genetic applications in cancer

چکیده
introduction: pathophysiology of cancer is based on genetic instabilities. this can explain recent important role of genetic studies in such diseases. defects can be large (on molecular scale) at the level of chromosomal or small in nucleotide level, which eventually causes to irreversible change in the cell. conventional technical methods in cancer genetics are generally based on molecular or cytogenetic studies. therefore, we will be able to screen familial cancers, detect disease recurrence rate at molecular level, evaluate drug response and predict cancer prognosis. until now, gene therapy, as a therapeutical method has supportive and not curative role in cancer. in this article we will overview outlines of cancer genetics.

Applications of multiplex ligation-dependent probe amplification (MLPA) method in diagnosis of cancer and genetic disorders
Introduction: Lots of human diseases and syndromes result from partial or complete gene deletions and duplications or changes of certain specific chromosomal sequences. Many various methods are used to study the chromosomal aberrations including Comparative Genomic Hybridization (CGH), Fluorescent in Situ Hybridization (FISH), Southern blots, Multiplex Amplifiable Probe Hybridisation (MAP...
متن کاملA Review of Applications of Nanoceria in Cancer
Cancer is one of the most difficult diseases to treat in modern medicine. Annually, many articles are published that propose various ways for preventing carcinogenesis. Furthermore, research into cancer treatments is carried out with minimal side effects. The most common non-invasive cancer treatments include chemotherapy, targeted therapy, radiotherapy, and immunotherapy. Low effectiveness of...
متن کاملApplications of nanofibers in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer
When a cell’s DNA is damaged, the injured cells react by changing from normal to malignant cells, rather than dying or repairing the damage. Metastatic cancer is the deadliest kind of cancer since it refers to cancer that has spread to other parts of the patient’s body. The need for cancer detection techniques that are rapid, non-invasive, and accurate is growing. Cancer diagnosis, monitoring, ...

During the last two decays the tremendous success in molecular biology and genetics which has surprised the entire world. So that today the sequencing of whole genome has been possible for each human individual to estimate its being affected with cardiovascular and cancer diseases. However, these achievements have some important limitations and deep ethical issues which might be ignored. Geneti...
متن کاملGenetic polymorphism in ERCC5 and breast cancer risk
ERCC5 plays crucial role in excision repair DNA damage induced by UV in NER pathway. Single neuleotide polymorphism in ERCC5 were responsible for different cancers. Therefore, current study evaluated the relationship between ERCC5 (rs1047768 T>C) polymorphism and the risk of breast cancer in Pakistani population. The rs1047768 polymorphism was screened among 175 female...
